We love crafting miniature items here at Cupcakes and Lace!  Here is a fun springtime themed kids craft that you can make for your mini Easter bunnies, stuffed animals or dolls! We chose to make these little stools for adorable Easter bunny stuffed animals we found at Oriental Trading!  They also have several other varieties of bunnies. All you need is a few supplies and a great imagination to make this fun craft. A few years ago I came across a really cool Ebay shop called Girl Scouting with Annelies  that sells very unique and rare Girl Scout treasures! I want all of our readers to be aware of all the cool Girl Scout artifacts, memorabilia and badges that they sell.  Annelies is a Girl Scout Historian with the best Ebay shop I have seen!  We have purchased several different retro badges to use in our workshops. Last summer during camp we offered a vintage Dressmaker class for the Cadettes and they earned this really cute (the badge has a dressform on it!) sewing badge all related to dressmaking.   The badge was from the 1960's and I even had my mothers Cadette badge book...Continue Reading!

Every year in March at one of our 18'' Doll Accessory Classes we hold a St. Patrick's Day themed crafting class! The girls make tons of mini pots of gold, pretend drinks, green ice cream sundaes (check out the DIY tutorial to make some of your own), shamrock themed items and more! The doll table is easy to make!  We get the detergent (Tide brand etc.) boxes free from Costco or BJ's!  You can really use any sturdy box that is doll height.  You can spray paint ahead of time for the girls or help them use green duck tape, paper etc.  Purchase shamrock stickers, craft gems, use markers, paint etc.  The girls will love it!  The cheaper place for spray paint...Continue Reading!

In a recent crafting workshops here in Chantilly, Virginia we showed one super fun Girl Scout Brownie troop how to make mini hats and scarves for adorable mini teddy bears! You can purchase these mini teddy bears or any similar small plush teddy bears, easter bunnies, St. Patricks Day bunnies (basically tons of different kinds of little plush friends!) from Oriental Trading. Mrs. K (owner of Cupcakes and Lace) recently went on a trip with her 87 year old Grandmother to the southern Caribbean!   While she was there they visited a childrens home called Casa Cuna.  They purchased a few bags of childrens clothing from Little Lords and Ladies, packed it up in their suitcase and brought it over to the home in Aruba. Casa Cuna serves as a place for young children who may be in difficult family situations, abusive households, or those that may be in foster care or need of adoption.  Kids are ages birth to about 8 years old.
