Have a Junior Girl Scout troop that is working towards your Playing the Past badge? We have some ideas you might enjoy! First you need to pick a theme or era/decade for Playing the Past to narrow down your ideas. We recently cooked rainbow pancakes in one of our summer camps here in Chantilly, Virginia! What fun!  This is a fun twist to traditional pancakes.  This is also a great activity to use when working towards your Junior Girl Scout Simple Meals badge.   Ingredients: box of pancake mix food coloring (we love the Wilton gel food coloring!  Can get at WalMart, JoAnn Fabrics, or craft store) tons of bowls spoons griddle or frying pan on stove spatula tons of plates measuring cups How to Make: Mix the pancakes in a big bowl according to the directions on the back of the pancake box. Separate the mix evenly into little bowls. Add food coloring with all the colors of the rainbow!  Stir! Spray griddle with cooking spray and turn on. Lets craft an awesome American Girl Doll Beach lounge chair!  This craft is super fun, eco friendly and only take a few supplies! Supplies: big box!  We used a cucumber or pepper sized Costco box.  Anything that is at least 18'' long will work Duck tape or just paper to cover the sides stickers, gems, or paper cut outs (we printed a sheet of fruit clip art to cut and glue on the sides) piece of fabric for the top/beach towel (we used some terry cloth fabric from the fabric store) scissors tacky glue   Make It: We duck taped around the sides of the box then embellished with the fruit clip art, and stickers and painted! This summer time doll craft is such fun!  Make these scene using real sand and shells! You can make this for your American Girl doll, teddy bear or stuffed animal and use it when you make the Beach Lounge Chair. Supplies: Blue poster board (one sheet per girl) shells  (you can purchase the shells and small bags of sand at the Dollar Tree or Michaels) sand markers, paint and/or construction paper to create beach creatures, fish, waves and more scissors glue (we use dixie cups and made decoupage using a little tacky glue mixed with a few drops of water-then have them use a paintbrush) Make It: We gave each girl one sheet of blue poster board. How to Craft Mini Smores For Your American Girl Doll or Teddy Bear

Who loves smores?  We do and we bet your 18'' doll or favorite stuffed animal does too!  Learn how to make mini pretend smores below.   Supplies: Tan craft foam or tan felt cotton ball or 2 small white pom poms brown craft foam or brown felt tacky glue scissors         How to Make: This is a fun and easy craft to make with your friends!  Start by cutting out your graham crackers (tan foam) and chocolate (brown foam).  You can really do any size but we made our AG doll sized about 1 inch by 1 inch.  We cut two tan pieces and one brown piece.
