Felt Foodies Hot Dog & French Fries Kids Hand Sewing Project Idea

In one of our recent sewing camps for kids in Chantilly, Virginia we taught the girls to sew some cute food stuffed WWW.CUPCAKESANDLACE.COManimals!

Want to make a pretend and delicious hot dog meal?  See below for some sewing inspiration!

If you know how to hand sew or have someone who can teach you this is a great project!  After you hand sew the hot dog you can use hot glue (with adult help) to make the bun, ketchup, mustard and fries!  Add some pickles too.  Check out our pictures in this post for ideas.

We purchased these fast food trays and the french fry cups at Target Dollar Spot (but have seen them at Dollar Tree and WalMart from time to time.)

www.cupcakesandlace.comYou can purchase sheets of felt for cheap at Michaels, ACmoore, Walmart and JoAnn Fabrics.  They have tons of colors.

We usually pre-cut the hot dogs and buns for the girls before class.  Or you can have poster board patterns and pens ready for them to trace and cut on the fabric.

Then just give them a tray of scrap fleece (or pre cute smaller square of

yellow, red and green) for the condiments.  This way they can use their imagination and cut any size and shape the want for their embellishments.

P.S.  Feel free to copy and paste our image of the hot dog and bun and blow it up on your scanner… then you have the pattern!
