Playing the Past Junior Badge Girl Scout Crafting & Activity Ideas

Have a Junior Girl Scout troop that is working towards your Playing the Past badge?

We have some ideas you might enjoy!

First you need to pick a theme or era/decade for Playing the Past to narrow down your ideas.

We have done this badge in many of our Girl Scout badge workshops.  One idea we love to do a 1970’s theme!  If you choose this decade you could craft pet rocks with the girls…these are always a big hit.  Especially if you do this www.cupcakesandlace.comwith fabric scraps (versus just paint).  Check out our video here for instructions on how to make these.  Also why not make a recycled denim jean pocket purse by re-using old jeans.  And hey you get two purses out of one pair of jeans.  Check out our tutorial here.

Or what about Pioneer inspired Playing the Past?  Learn about Laura Ingalls Wilder and do some hand sewing or make a rag doll, or homemade biscuits.  If you want to go even farther and earn a fun patch we have a great patch kit for leaders and it is prairie themed.  Check it out here.  This will save you some hassle with getting information and has a supply list for craft and cooking segment.

Hey local Northern Virginians!  If you live close enough to our new Aldie location why not make a day of it!  Check out the Aldie Mill and learn about colonial times.  Then come to our studio and learn how to make a colonial apron for our badge!
